Calamogrotis canadensis – Marsh reed Grass

Marsh Reed Grass

calamo

Scientific Name: Calamogrotis canadensis

Description

Marsh Reed Grass (also known as Bluejoint) can be found in Meadows, swamps, marshes, bogs, ditches and dry ponds. It is quite versatile as it can grow in arid soil but can also withstand temporary flooding. It can act as a great natural filter when submersed and its vast root system can stabilize an eroding shoreline of ponds and marshes. Marsh Reed Grass can grow to 100cm in height and will produce small flowers. We recommend that it be planted in saturated soil but not in standing water.
